Induction Motors Drives
Three phase induction motors are commonly used is adjustable-speed drives and they have three-phase stator and rotor windings.
The speed of the rotation of the field is called synchronous speed
Three phase induction motors are commonly used is adjustable-speed drives and they have three-phase stator and rotor windings.
The stator windings are supplied with balanced three-phase ac voltages, which produce induce voltages in the rotor windings due to transformation action.
The stator windings can be distributed to achieve multiple Poles, to produce several cycles of mmf (or field) around the air gap.
This field establishes a spatially distributed sinusoidal flux density in the air gap.
This flux magnitude is constant and it’s rotate at synchronous speed.
